Esther’s Obituary
Esther Jewel Frank was truly a rare and beautiful woman. She had kindness for all. Her faith was strong, and her love knew no boundaries.
Esther was born 10th of 12 children to parents Maudie and George Codd of Viking, Alberta. She had 7 sisters and 4 brothers.
Esther could often be found laughing and talking on the phone with any one of her 11 siblings, they were a very tight knit family that adored each other immensely. Laughter was truly her best medicine.
Esther dedicated her life to caring for all those around her, she was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and selfless friend. To Esther, people were her prized possessions, she would say that she collects beautiful moments, rather than collecting things.
Esther spent 29 years of her life in Fairview, Alberta with her husband James (Jim) Frank, where she raised her family, worked on the family farm, was employed in many businesses and built lifelong friendships. Jim and Esther moved to Peace River in 1991 and remained there until Jim’s death in 2021. It was during these years that Esther truly lived and enjoyed her life. Her children were grown, and she was able to travel and explore. Some of her adventures included trips to Wales, London and Ireland where she connected with long lost relatives, she travelled to New York City to visit her oldest son and his family on numerous occasions, she made a trip to Victoria for tea at the Empress Hotel with her daughter and granddaughter and had many road trips within Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan. Esther loved to drive, spending time on the road visiting with friends and family along her journeys brought her great joy.
Esther spent the last few years of her life living in Edmonton, and at 80 years old she pulled her own U-Haul trailer all the way from Peace River to Edmonton to her new home. She lived there from May 2021 until her passing. As the kind and loving woman she was, she became fast friends with her neighbors and had wonderful times getting to know each of them.
On March 15, 2024 Esther gave up her long and arduous battle with heart disease, she was unable to fight any longer. Esther leaves to mourn 5 children; 9 Grandchildren and 1 Chihuahua. She will be missed greatly.
