Dwayne’s Obituary
Dwayne was born November 18, 1950 in Fairview, AB, to Albert and Violet Aune at the Fairview Hospital, Fairview, Alberta. He passed away December 13, 2023 (age 73) at the Grande Prairie Hospital, Grande Prairie, AB.
He was predeceased by his infant daughter February 1979; his ex-wife Jeanne Aune, September 25, 2012; his son Erik on September 24, 2000; his father Albert Aune, March 29, 1998.
Dwayne is survived by his mother Violet Aune at the Fairview Long Term Care; his sister Yvette Vanberg (husband Ken) of Calgary, AB; 2 nieces of Calgary, Treena Voth (husband Wayne), Cindy Vanberg (& great nephew Kasper, foster great niece Lyla); 1 nephew of Calgary, Lance Vanberg (wife Jenny) (& great niece Anika, great nephew Henry, great niece Nova); his compassionate friend Cindy Benn (our family expresses extra special thanks to Cindy for all her continuous help, care & support for Dwayne) .
Dwayne grew up on the family farm in Deer Hill NE of Fairview, AB, & attended the Hines Creek school as well as the Vocational College in Grande Prairie, AB.
The majority of Dwayne’s working life was in his businesses in Zama City, AB (which he still owned until his passing), trucking & servicing the Oil & Gas industry. His 2nd home for many years has been on an acreage NE of smith, AB, having special neighbours & friends.
Dwayne had a passion for restoring old tractors and vehicles (Uncle Henry Aune’s restored tractor can be seen at the Hines Creek End of Steel, Hines Creek, AB). He was happy & proud to win $50 for Uncle Henry’s restored pickup truck in an AB June 2023 parade.
Many times he reminisced about playing crib with Gus at the Clairmont Lakeland Senior Center. Another passion of his was to camp out each summer at the Red Deer Westerner Campground & tour the area with his 3 wheel Harley Motor bike with his buddies (and stopping in to get coffee at Tim Horton’s).
At Dwayne’s request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
