Ann’s Obituary
It is with heartfelt sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Ann Zavisha (Moloney), age 80, on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Born May 11,1943 in Cappangrane, Mullinahone, Ireland and because of financial hardships in Ireland, she moved away from home at the young age of 14. She travelled and worked in London, England, Toronto, Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta before finding her forever home of 55 years in Hines Creek, Alberta.
Ann’s time in Hines Creek lead her from one adventure to another and was never shy to take on the next challenge. She raised her family, learned to swim later in life, worked various jobs and cared for the residents at the Homesteaders Lodge. She continued to serve by becoming Mayor for the community of Hines Creek.
Ann was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed the simple things in life and cherished every moment with family and friends. Making memories with her grandchildren meant the world to her and she valued their time together. You would find Ann most days at the Homesteaders Lodge with Lena Zavisha (her mother-in-law) who held a very special place in Ann’s heart. As a woman of Faith, she was blessed and developed many close friendships from her church and enjoyed hours of fellowship with them.
Ann was a humble woman and will be remembered by her smile, infectious laugh, kindness and her love and dedication to family and her community she called home.
She is survived by her son Brad (Lisa Zavisha), grandchildren, Jordan, Brooklyn and Aidan Zavisha, her sisters Mary Conway, Peggy Lofthouse, Cathy Jackson, her brother Bill Moloney, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Ann was pre-deceased by her loving husband Brad Zavisha of 51 years, her son Vance Tyler Zavisha, her daughter Allison Zavisha, her grandson Vance Bradley Zavisha, her father John Moloney, her mother Norah (Ryan) Moloney, her sister Ellen Handson, brothers John and Tommy Moloney.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Fairview (AB) with Father Isidore Onyeka officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the hall at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Prayers will take place on Thursday, May 2 at 7:00 pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Interment will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Hines Creek (AB) onat 3:00 pm.
At the request of family, donations may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (P.O. Box 634, Hines Creek, AB T0H 2A0)
The service will be recorded and offered from this obituary, in the days following.
