David Tindill Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that the family of David (Dave) Wayne Tindill, announce his passing on December 9, 2024, in Carrot Creek, Alberta at the age of 68.
Dave was born in Vancouver, BC on April 27, 1956. He was the oldest son of John and Eileen Tindill. Dave grew up in Blue River, BC and Kamloops, BC; also lived with his grandfather, Thomas William Tindill, for a period. Dave later moved to Alberta for work, where he married Rosemary “Rose” Margaret James on August 25, 1978. They lived in Edson, then Hinton, prior to settling onto their acreage at Carrot Creek in 1980 where he lived until his death. Dave started working for Cardinal River Coals near Cadomin, AB in November 1979; first as a truck driver and then as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic. He had not retired and was still employed there 45 years later. He commuted 90 minutes each way, on top of a 12-hour shift; strong evidence that he loved where he lived and worked.
Dave enjoyed camping and being outdoors. His love of camping started with his grandfather, Thomas Tindill, in the mountains near Blue River. He loved being a mechanic and was both a licensed automotive and heavy-duty mechanic. With all his boys, he was involved in Boy Scouts, Cub Car Rallies, camp outs and other events they had. He was never strong with technology but give him anything mechanical and he would figure it out. He enjoyed taking pictures, most of them of the scenic mountains where he worked, the wildlife on the mine, or projects he built. If you were working on a project, home reno, car broken down, he would be first to roll up his sleeves and help. If you asked for help, he was certain to be there. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing pranks.
Dave and Rose had 2 sons, Donovan and Tyler. Dave and Rose also raised their nephew, Shannon James, during his school years, and Dave treated him like a son to this day. Dave enjoyed spending his days off with his boys, his grandchildren, his brother Mike, co-workers, and friends.
Left to mourn Dave are his wife Rosemary, with whom he shared a deep bond though they were recently separated; mother Eileen; son Donovan (Amanda) Tindill; son Tyler (spouse) Tindill; nephew Shannon (Natacha) James; 6 grandchildren: Emily Tindill, Dawson Tindill, Jesse James, and Autumn James; 3 brothers Mike Tindill, Alan Tindill, and Darcy (Charlotte) Tindill; brother-in-law, Terry (Colby) Coray and a half-brother Richard (Charlotte) Collins. He attended all the family reunions and leaves behind many more including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to mourn his passing.
Dave is predeceased by his father John, sister Martti Coray, and sister-in-law Marianne Tindill.
A Celebration of Life will be held January 4, 2025, at 1:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Edson, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
