Terry Daryl Peterman passed away in the early hours of December 7, 2024 at the age of 73, after a brief stay at the University of Alberta hospital.
Terry was born on April 29, 1951 in Moose Jaw SK. As a child, he loved sports of all kind, especially baseball and hockey, danced tap, and was an excellent student. In private, his family life was extremely turbulent. In 1962, after the death of his father, the family relocated to Richmond B.C. At the age of 19, Terry experienced a radical conversion to Christianity. He met his wife, Rosella shortly after this experience and they married in September of 1970. In 1972, he began studies at Northwest Bible College in Edmonton, AB, and afterward graduation, pastored at churches across western Canada. In 1983, Terry underwent extensive training in counselling and went on to work as a therapist as well as a pastor. Due to his own traumatic childhood, he felt that he had a unique insight into and possessed a particular passion toward helping others who were hurting.
In 1989, Terry was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, and in 1994 and again in 1996, underwent liver transplant surgeries. While his health remained delicate, he was able to work and travel well into his later years. His family remains extraordinarily grateful to the many medical personnel who cared for Terry over the years and are especially grateful to the donor families who made the difficult and generous decision to donate their loved ones’ organs.
Terry was predeceased by his father Frank, mother Millie (Gamble), and brother Wayne. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosella (Vogt), children Robin-Taine (Michael), Ryan, Raymond (Lindsay), and his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Patricia, his niece and nephews.
