Obituary for
Orest Steblyk
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Orest Steblyk on November 3, 2024, at the venerable age of 88.
Orest was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia “Pat” (née Semeniuk), and siblings, Lillian, Peter, and John. He will be dearly missed by his three daughters and their spouses, Carol (Ray Tralnberg), JoAnn (Dale Kirkland), and Cathy (Tom Abel), and his much-admired grandchildren, Kennedy, Austin, and Patrick.
Orest was an indelible influence in the circle of his extended family, his friends, and the educational staff he led and students he taught. He loved telling jokes, working on puzzles and spending time at the lake in the cabin he built, surrounded by family and friends at campfires and singing. Orest took immense pride in his family’s accomplishments and celebrated each success as if they were his own. We are grateful for his generous heart, considered guidance, patience, and how he taught us all how to use a hammer.
The family wishes to thank the generous and compassionate staff of the Devonshire Village community, where he made his home for the last 12 years.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral service will be held at Park Memorial with immediate family in attendance. His ashes will be inurned beside his dearly beloved wife, Pat, at Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of tributes, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, in c/o the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 710, 10123 – 99 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1 or albertacancer.ca/donate/
