It is with great sadness that the family of Mona Patram announce her passing on August 23, 2024, at the Sturgeon Hospital in St. Albert, Alberta.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lincoln Patram, to whom she was married for 60 years.
Mona will be greatly missed by her daughter, Nicole Patram-Korek (Doug Korek). She was the proud and loving Nannie to her cherished granddaughter, Ava Korek.
Mona was born on October 20, 1940, in Trinidad, and married Lincoln Patram on July 31, 1959. In 1966, Mona and Lincoln emigrated to Canada from Trinidad, establishing their lives as proud Canadians in Winnipeg, Calgary, and St. Albert. Mona was the second child born into the Balramsingh family of 10 children and is survived by six of her sisters: Sue, Lacchmin (Sieunarine), Laldai, Tara, Debbie (Andrew), and Anjanie (Udesh), all from Mississauga, Ontario. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Pearly Parmassur; and her brothers, Boyzan and Selwyn Balramsingh. She was Auntie to Michelle (Trinidad), Nyleenee and Syleen (USA), Gita, Todd, Leesha, Edwin, Shivani, Veda, Aidan, and Laura (Canada). She was Great-Aunt to 10. Mona is also survived by numerous relatives including her brother-in-law, Henry Patram (Michelle); nephew-in-law, Moti Patram (Germaine); and numerous relatives from Trinidad, Canada, and USA.
Her Family would like to thank the attending doctors and nurses of the Sturgeon Hospital, St. Albert and of the Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, for their outstanding care and treatment during Mona’s illness.
At Mona’s request, no formal funeral service will be held.
