John D. Madill Obituary
John passed away peacefully at the U of A Hospital, Edmonton, due to multiple organ failure; he is survived by his wife Helen, son Andrew, and brother Allen (Heather).
John was a graduate of the Vancouver School of Art and obtained his BFA from the U of A in 1973. John was active in community theatre, and taught theatre history and stage design at Grant MacEwan for over 25 years.
In August 2018, he was awarded the Dieter Penzhorn Memorial Award for his “significant and sustained service to the Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology while playing an active role in the development of the greater Canadian community.”.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the University of Alberta.
