Gina Scarpelli
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gina Scarpelli on December 5, 2024, surrounded by family, at the age of 65 years.
Gina is survived by her loving husband, Mario; children, Anna (Luke), Giovanna and Alessandra; mother, Ida Guzzo; siblings, Maria (Gino) Bernardo and Joe (Anna) Guzzo; sisters in law, Ida Scarpelli and Alexandra Scarpelli; along with many nieces and nephews, Rosalee, Christina, Franco, Gisberto (Danielle), Katerina, Domini (Chris), Julian (Lisa), Antonio and Elisa and extended relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Gisberto Guzzo; in-laws, Giovanni and Anna Scarpelli; and extended family members both in Canada and in Italy.
Loving, gentle, generous, compassionate and classy are a few of the words that describe the beautiful person Gina was. Her kindness shone through to all she met. While truly resilient and a fighter, she was always gracious and positive to everyone. Some of her favourite things included being a wife, mother, daughter, aunt, niece and friend. She enjoyed nature especially spending time at the beach sharing a “ciambella” with family and friends and listening to music – especially her favourite song “Sapore di Sale”. We will forever think of her every time we hear her special song. Gina will truly be missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, 9110 – 110 Avenue NW, Edmonton. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to Good Samaritan (www.gss.org), Critical Care & Respirology outpatient clinic at Misericordia,16940 – 87 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T5R 4H5 and the Genetics clinic at the University of Alberta, 8-39 Medical Sciences Building, 8613 -114 Street, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2H7.
