LAZZER, H. Marjorie “Marge”
March 24, 1927 – October 14, 2023
Mom passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 in the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre after a brief illness at the age of 96 years. Marge was born in Forestburg, Alberta and grew up in the Mellowdale area. Her working life was spent teaching, starting in Bloomsbury, and continuing in Rutherford, Mellowdale, Linaria, Eckville, and ending in Red Deer. Along the way, she raised five children, was active in her local church, coached high school girls basketball and sang in a senior women’s choir. Her retirement was spent traveling with her husband, Gene, with time spent in Europe, Australia, Philippines, and many miles on their motorhome touring around Canada and the United States of America, with many winters spent in Yuma. They loved taking the grandchildren for a few days at a time in the summer. Always an avid reader, Mom was asking for books to be brought up to the hospital. Marge will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian (Heather), Don, Barry (Viola), Allen (Vanessa) and Brenda (Wade), her thirteen grandchildren and her eighteen great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Eric, her three sisters-in-law, Barb, Gloria and Anita, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Marge was predeceased by her husband of seventy-three years, Gene, and her three brothers. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Lukes Anglican Church, 4929 54 St, Red Deer, Alberta with a reception to follow.
