It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected death of Robert Eric Mahan, fondly known as “Eric,” on Monday, March 25, 2024. Eric was a man whose presence filled any room, and his departure has left a void that cannot be filled. Eric’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.
Eric will be forever remembered by his sons, Coby (Paula) Mahan and Cory (Wanita) Mahan; grandchildren, Alicia, Brooke, Hannah, and Adam; siblings, Diane Sullivan, George Mahan, and John Mahan; and many friends.
Eric was predeceased by his parents, John Jacob Mahan, and Peggy Cook Christy.
Eric had a passion for riding his horses, team roping, branding and the cowboy lifestyle. Eric found joy in hunting, fishing, and camping.
A social man by nature, he had a routine he followed that included breakfast, lunch, and coffee with friends throughout the day, which really were his debate partners.
In his professional life, Eric’s work ethic was unparalleled. He dedicated himself to his craft as a welder, lending his skills to companies like Hanas Welding. However, it was in running his own business, Eric’s Welding, that he found true fulfillment.
Known for his unwavering opinions, Eric was never one to shy away from expressing his thoughts, even if they were at odds with those around him. Despite his gruff exterior, those who knew him best understood that Eric was truly a gentle giant at heart.
The family would like to thank all the support from family and friends during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 269 Lounge.
