Riley Kenneth Johnston
June 18, 1953 – March 6, 2024
The family of Riley Kenneth Johnston sadly announce his passing on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Center. His soft soul, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Riley will live on in the memory of his wife of 32 years, Debra; his daughters, Leeann (Nick) and Anita; grandchildren, Emily, Daymion, Landen, and Ayasha; Mother, Irene; siblings, Brian (Margret), Kevin (Jessica), Loralee (Daryl), Lynette (Tony), and Terri Lynn (Paul), along with a large extended family.
Riley was predeceased by his dad, Kenneth; brothers, Wendel and Miles; sister-in-law, Helen; In-laws Marg and John Hall.
Riley above all else loved his family, he was a supportive husband, kind and caring dad to his daughters, gave all of his heart to his grandchildren, to his siblings a helping hand, and a dedicated son. A man with a heart of gold and generosity, he would see others in need and show them a gentle kindness. Riley’s strong work ethic was passed down to his family, he believed that you should pursue what you wanted and stick with it. Riley believed in right and wrong and knew the difference, and instilled in others that it doesn’t matter what others think, it only matters what you think.
In his free time, Riley found solace in the great outdoors, fishing, and hiking, the outdoors was his sanctuary. Though Riley may no longer be with us his legacy of love, kindness, and authentic faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The family would like to thank the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Center staff and a special thank you to nurse Darby, for your kindness and patient care you showed Riley during his stay.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made directly to the Cross Cancer Institute in in Riley’s name.
The funeral service for Riley will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Buck Lake Community Hall, Lakeshore Dr, Buck Lake, Alberta, with the interment to follow at the Poplar Valley Cemetery in Winfield.
