Philip Ord Obituary
PHILIP ANDREW ORD
August 7, 1971 – January 2, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Philip Andrew Ord, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in Drayton Valley; a remarkable individual who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Philip was a passionate collector of knives and war memorabilia, particularly medals, which he cherished and valued greatly. His collection was a testament to his appreciation for history and his dedication to preserving the memory of those who served. One of Philip’s favorite pastimes was watching movies, which allowed him to escape into different worlds and immerse himself in captivating stories.
Philip proudly served in the King’s Own Border Regiment as an infantryman in the United Kingdom. His commitment to his country and his fellow soldiers was unwavering, and he carried out his duties with honor and bravery. His service will forever be remembered and appreciated.
Beyond his military career and collecting interests, Philip was a loving family man. He found immense joy in spending time with his beloved grandkids, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come. He was a pillar of support and guidance, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom.
Philip’s legacy is left to be cherished and remembered by his loving partner of 13 years, Jody Prentice; children, Madison Adair (Donald), Courtney Adair (Justin), Austin Prentice, Marsha Ord (Spencer), D’Arcye Ord (Brady); their mother Candace Ord; grandchildren, Sophia Blatkewicz, Charlee Blatkewicz, and Atticus Aiken; Mother, Margaret McCarthy; siblings, Robbie McCarthy (Samantha), Rebecca Moore (Richard, Liese Dales and his extended family, Tony and Maureen Escritt, Ben and Katie Escritt, Jamie Escritt, along with numerous nieces, nephews.
Philip is predeceased by his father, Brian Ord; stepfather, Cyril McCarthy; Ord grandparents; Escritt grandparents; and great niece, Farraha Rose.
Philip Andrew Ord was a larger-than-life man who left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. His passion, dedication, and love for his family and interests will forever be remembered. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.
