It is with sadness, yet gentle relief, that we announce the passing of Elmer Samuel Kupsch, a long-time resident of Drayton Valley, who peacefully passed away at the DV Hospital and Care Centre on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the age of 92 years.
Elmer will be remembered for his enjoyment of hunting and fishing, shared with his brothers, nephews and son-in-law. His love and pride for his grandkids shone brightly in his heart and he was gladly at their beck and call. An avid sports enthusiast, Elmer found immense pleasure in baseball, curling, and Legion darts. He savored time spent at the family cabin at Lake Isle. His baritone voice enriched the church choir, bringing harmony to congregational songs. As a skilled heavy-duty mechanic in the oilfield for many years, Elmer’s dedication and expertise were admired by all who knew and worked with him.
Elmer’s kind spirit, gentle demeanor, and unwavering loyalty to both his family and community will continue to be cherished and dearly missed. May his legacy of love and joy live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Elmer will be lovingly remembered by his children, Scott (Janice) Kupsch and Shelley (Larry) Ostertag; grandchildren, Shayla, Kaylie, Cori (James), Sam and Izzy; numerous nieces and nephews and the many deep rooted family friends who enriched his life’s journey.
Elmer is predeceased by his wife, Phyllis; parents, Edward and Lydia; brothers, Oscar, Benno, Christian, Walter, Emil and sisters, Rose, Lillian and Theodora, along with their spouses.
The Kupsch family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to George Cawthorne and Dwayne Henley for taking the time to visit with Elmer, Dr. Gossmann and nursing staff at Acute and Continuing Care of DV Hospital and his friends at Shangri-La and Seasons Retirement Communities for enriching his time spent there.
Memorial donations in Elmer’s name may be made directly to Emmaus Lutheran Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
Elmer’s life will be celebrated at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 4604 50 Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Quinn Adams officiating. A private family Interment will take place immediately following the service at Riverview Cemetery. The Service will be followed by a reception held at the Legion lounge, 5204 51st Avenue, Drayton Valley.
