With deep sorrow, we mourn the loss of Robert Dwight McNair, who peacefully passed away on February 15, 2024, at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, following a courageous battle with cancer, Robert is now resting pain-free and easy.
Dwight will be remembered by his wife of 53 years, Bonita; children, Rod (Treena) McNair, Tara McNair, and Careen (Rob) Komarnisky; granddaughters, Jamie, Katie, and Ellie; siblings, Sharon, Marie, Kathy, and George, and a large extended family.
Dwight was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia and Angela; parents, George and Marie McNair
Dwight was a man of unwavering character and an exemplary work ethic, which he instilled in his children. Despite his intentions to retire, Dwight remained tirelessly dedicated to his various endeavors, always keeping himself occupied. Throughout his life, Dwight excelled as a heavy-duty mechanic in the mining industry, as well as in his own business and the oilfield. In his leisure time, he found solace in activities such as fishing, golfing, gardening, and camping. His love for animals was evident, particularly his fondness for horses, chickens, and dogs of different breeds.
Dwight cherished his family, holding a special place in his heart for his beloved grandchildren, whom he adored more than anything. He took immense pride in their accomplishments. Dwight t’s unwavering commitment to his bride of 53 years was a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Despite frequent relocations, they remained inseparable, facing life’s challenges together.
A graveside service will be held February 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverview Cemetery, Drayton Valley, Alberta. The family invites you to a luncheon to be held following the graveside service at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #269, 5204 51 Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation made directly to Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 1Z2.
