Our hearts are broken, mom, grandma, Em stopped hugging us on October 21, 2024. Em passed away peacefully surrounded by family, holding her daughters hand. Along with her hugs we will miss her bigger than life personality, contagious smile, raunchy sense of humor and infinite generosity.
Emily’s number one job in life was taking care of all two and four legged family members. Her legacy endures in kindness and strength through her daughter Kari. Her world revolved around her grandchildren Griffin and Harper who were the light of her life. Emily’s hugs live on in Griffin’s strong arms and her spirited attitude shines through in Harper. She will be missed by her son-in-law Tyson, who was like a son to her and her closest new product confident.
Predeceased by her father and mother Lucien & Julia Bourdier. Emily will be lovingly remembered by: brother Louis (Barb), sisters Val, Georgene (Paul), Geraldine, and Lucille (Wyatt); numerous nieces and nephews; chosen family Darlene (Harold), Lisa, Jodi & Audrey; and countless friends. Her dear friend Marlene greeted her with open arms on October 21st, oh the fun they will have together.
Em’s 10 year career as a nurse’s aid was brought to a close with motherhood. A fulfilling and diverse career followed in retail and customer service with the Alberta Liquor Control Board and her last 29 years spent in devotion to John at Royal Liquor Merchants. Emily created a close-knit family within the community, protected her domain by thwarting thieves, and had a remarkable talent for making strangers feel at home. She very proudly worked to 75 years of age.
Kari will miss every aspect of her mom but will treasure their conversations, hugs, dinners, travels, weekend getaways, laughter, inside jokes, and the joy of watching her be the best grandma ever.
