Lois Goodfellow Obituary
It is with sorrow that we commend Lois Madelene Goodfellow to the Mercy of God. We love her dearly and will miss her presence amongst us but have great confidence in the promise of eternal life, offered to us by our Catholic faith.
Lois was thoughtful, kind, generous and witty. She was a good listener and had a way of making people feel special. Known to be ‘feisty’, she showed great strength and resilience and despite years of suffering – she never complained. She had a contagious laugh, a beautiful smile and a hint of mischief. We miss her already, more than words can express.
Lois was born and raised in Spry Harbour NS and was always a Maritimer at heart. She was Executive Director of Calgary Pro-Life for 35 years, where she worked tirelessly to give voice to the unborn, which she did with class and grace, educating with gentleness, compassion and friendship. She was instrumental in saving the lives of numerous babies. Traveling with her beloved husband Don was one of Lois’ passions. Together, they visited Europe, Central America, the Philippines, China and Arizona.
Lois and Don would like to thank all the caregivers who helped care for her in the past years, especially Hergie and Kristin. A thank you also to Drs. Liam Martin and Caeley Lorincz.
Lois is beloved by her devoted husband William Donald Goodfellow (KC), who cared for her so lovingly, her only daughter Vicki (Chris) and by her grandchildren Madalen, Hannah, Sam, Emma and Olivia. Lois was close to her extended family and is survived by 4 sisters, Rita (Ray) Connie (Richie) Brenda (Terry +) Darlene (Herbie +) and brother Sheldon (Faye).
She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Cora (Gordon +) and Velda (George +) as well as six brothers, Wallace (Ada +) Sherman (Connie +) Curtis (Anne +) Orrin (Darlene + ) David (Georgina) Stuart (Bliss) and by her parents Edith and Stanley Hawes. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
