Livio Giuricich Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and sweet sorrow that we announce the passing of Livio Giuricich, our beloved Husband, Father, Nonno, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Best-friend. He left us peacefully on the sunny morning of June 13th surrounded by the love of his family. His Catholic faith carried him through the trials and tribulations of life and provided him with a great source of comfort and peace even as he left us. We will miss him with a depth that words cannot express.
He created a beautiful life for his family and touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He was courageous and determined throughout the entirety of his life. In 1967, at the age of nineteen, he left his home by the sea in Mali Losinj, Croatia and embarked on a journey to Canada where he settled in the prairies in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Soon after, while working in Regina, he met the love of his life Debbie. Affectionately called “Romeo” by Debbie’s dad, their love story began, and they shared fifty-two wonderful years together, full of joy, laughter, love, and adventures.
Livio started his career as a finishing carpenter and built a successful business as a general contractor. He poured his heart and soul into every project and was the hardest working man that any of us have ever known. He never gave up, even when times got tough, and you would often hear him say “keep your chin up” or “forza e coraggio.”
He will forever send love and light to his daughters, Fabiana, Luciana, Olivia, granddaughter Nahanni, grandson Finnley, great-granddaughter Norah Daisy, son-in-law’s Sam and John, Debbie’s extended family, brother Franco and family, and his dearest friend Marietto. He will be with us on the sidelines, cheering for Finn during soccer games, planting carrots with Norah in garden, and watching Juventus games.
Until we meet again, we will simply say thank you. We are so proud of the way you walked this earth, and we will honor the gifts and memories that you have left us. The gifts of love for family, hard work, simple joys, connection to our roots, strength, faith, and generosity. We take comfort knowing that you are now in Heaven, embraced in the arms of your loving parents, Norina and Antonio. May the warm sun and gentle waves of the Adriatic bring you joy as you gather figs and olives with your beloved Nonno Giacomo.
You were always in our corner and now you will forever be in our hearts.
Ciao, bello. Ti amo.
