Juliette Cieslak Obituary
Juliette Cieslak, born on October 26, 1939, in Weyburn, SK passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, in Calgary, Ab, where she had made her home in recent years. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, and friend, Juliette cherished her family above all else, imparting countless life lessons and acts of kindness throughout her life.
Juliette married Bruce Johnson on Sept 3, 1957. They had 5 children together. In 1982, at the age of 40 Juliette had survived cancer, however lost Bruce to his cancer that same year.
Juliette began her adventures in travel in 1982. She continued to paint and quilt and craft like no other. Juliette’s talents were celebrated and rewarded at many competitions.
Juliette married Joe Cieslak on February 10, 1990, and the family grew! We were blessed with 3 more siblings. This is a milestone that even today, we all feel was one of Juliette and Joe’s greatest gifts.
Juliette and Joe built their home in High River, Ab in 1992 where they lived together until 1998 at which time Joe passed away of cancer on April 9.
Juliette was a woman of many exceptional talents, finding joy in quilting, painting, and every craft she ever attempted. Her creativity was matched only by her generosity; she was known for her warm spirit and her ability to bring people together. For many years, she was an active member of the High River Handicrafts Guild, where she shared her passion for quilting with her many friends and community.
She is survived by her children: Ricky (Jacki), Douglas (Sarah), Angela (Bert), Kathy, and her stepchildren Dana (Bonnie), Peggy (Bob), and James (Gwen). Juliette was also a proud grandmother to Bradley, Brett, Travis, Russel, Amanda, Karri, Tamra, Cole, Jillian, Anna, Ronald, Trista, Joey, Tarah, and Riley, as well as a great-grandmother to Zachary, Toby, Rhett, Aiden, Sully, Arwynn, Iris, Olivia and Desmond. She was predeceased by her beautiful youngest daughter, Pamela, and son-in-law Donald.
Juliette’s gift of kindness, compassion, and artistic talent will continue to inspire all who knew her. Juliette leaves a legacy of treasured quilts, paintings, sewing projects and her very special hand stitched ornaments that have been spread across family and friends. These gifts will live on for generations to follow.
Juliette embraced life with a simple yet profound message that she taught to all around her: “You just have to love people for who they are.” She will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Evan J Strong Funeral Services North (3625 12 Street NE) on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
