It is with heartfelt sorrows that we announce the passing of Blanche Luella Munro, beloved wife of Lloyd Munro of Calgary, Alberta, on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the age of 79 years.
Blanche was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved her family deeply. She was born in Ponoka, Alberta to Anna and John Thompson. Blanche met her darling husband, Lloyd, in Innisfail, Alberta, and they married on Saturday, December 14, 1963. Together they moved to Ponoka, northern Alberta and finally settled in Calgary in 1966. In 1972, her husband Lloyd and herself purchased Scandinavian Janitor Service. Her family was important and they were her biggest passion, especially the grandchildren.
Besides her loving husband of over 60 years, Lloyd, Blanche is survived by her son Roger Munro and his wife Donna; grandchildren Jennifer Pedder and her partner Ryan Dionne, Nicholas Pedder; son-in-law Dave Pedder; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Blanche is predeceased by her daughter, Sheila Pedder; sister, Betty Hill; brother, Bruce Thompson; and her parents, Anna Thompson (nee McCrae) and John Thompson.
A memorial service for Blanche will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Pierson’s Funeral Service, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta. If you are unable to attend, you may view the service on ZOOM (us02web.zoom.us/j/86124436209). Interment of Blanche’s urn will follow at the Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery, 243208 Garden Road, Calgary, Alberta. Cremation at Foothills Crematorium.
