Bernice ‘Bunny’ Lavery Obituary
Bunny passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 91. Bunny is survived by her daughter Brenda and son-in-law Dave, her granddaughter Tanis (Chris), her granddaughter-in-law Pam, and her great grandchildren Tianna, Ainsley and Johnathan. Bunny was predeceased by her daughter Beverly, her grandson Chad, and her parents and siblings.
Bunny was born on a farm six miles east of Pine Lake, near Penhold. She was the oldest of five children and had two sisters and two brothers. Her parents were German speakers from Russia and homesteaded in Canada. Bunny moved to Calgary at the age of fifteen to help her grandmother after her grandfather passed away. She joined her grandmother’s church, became a Sunday school teacher and sang alto in the choir. Her first job was at Palace bakery across from Mewata Barracks downtown Calgary.
She married Frank and they had two daughters together, Brenda and Beverly. Unfortunately, Beverly died at the young age of eighteen. Bunny led a full life, working as a nursing aid, a realtor, and cleaning for some friends.
She enjoyed baking, traveling, reading, completing puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. She loved music of all types, especially Elvis and his gospel music. Bunny will be dearly missed.
Bunny will be laid to rest at Queen’s Park Cemetery in a private service.
