Calvin Edward Gill

With profound sadness, we regret to share news of the passing of a kind-hearted and generous soul. Calvin Edward Gill of Newtown, Bonavista Bay, passed suddenly on February 7, 2023. Calvin worked at the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador City for 32 years. He retired in 1999 and returned in 2001 to his home of Newtown and his beloved Pinchard’s Island.
Calvin is predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) Gill and Gertrude Gill; parents-in-law, Douglas Hammond and Mary Hammond; infant brother, Terry Lindberg Gill; brother, Luke Gill; sister, Stella Simms; niece, Trudy-Lynn Gill; aunt, Stella Pye; uncles, Benjamin Bungay and Harvey Simms; brothers-in-law, Michael (Mick) Hammond and Stephen Probert; and sister-in-law Judy Hammond.
Calvin leaves to mourn his loving wife of 50 years and best friend, Patricia; sons Christopher (Denise), Darryl (Stephanie) and Douglas; grandchildren Michael, Daniel and Mary; brothers Bruce (Joan) and Johnny (Louisa); sisters Sarah Quinlan (Sylvester), Margaret Vincent (Elihu), Cavell Simms (Glenn) and Joanne Gill-Maddick (Donny); uncles Robert Green (Mary) and Edward Pye; aunts Rose Vincent (Howard), Daisy Bungay and Doris Simms; brother-in-law William Hammond (Karen); and sisters-in-law Mary Blake (Ira) and Maureen Probert.
A memorial service for family is scheduled for Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Kittiwake Funeral Home in Pound Cove, NL.
