BRICE, John (Jack) William Edward

John (Jack) William Edward Brice, also known as Jack Brice, was born on December 10, 1934, at the family homestead between Punnichy and Cupar in Saskatchewan, Canada.
On July 5, 1955, Jack married the love of his life, Marjorie Glenn, and they cherished nearly 68 years of marriage. They raised their three children in Regina, Saskatchewan, and were blessed with six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Jack had a deep passion for flying. He accomplished his first solo flight on May 18, 1957, and became a certified pilot in June of the same year. For many years, he served as a flight instructor at the Regina Flying Club.
Throughout his life, Jack dedicated almost four decades as a shop foreman for Auto Electric in Regina. After retiring, he and Marjorie relocated to Bulyea, Saskatchewan, where they found immense joy in being part of the small prairie community.
In 2015, they moved to Kelowna, British Columbia, to be closer to family, although Jack’s heart always remained in Saskatchewan. He derived great pleasure from constructing and flying his collection of RC model airplanes. An avid NASCAR fan, he also enjoyed activities such as curling, fishing, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren at the “Old Place.” Jack and Marjorie shared a love for dancing to old-time music at Danceland in Watrous, Saskatchewan.
On June 9, 2023, Jack passed away peacefully with family by his side and his loving wife, Marjorie, close by. His presence will be deeply missed.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, William “Johnny” Brice, and mother, Minerva “Bud” Brice, both from Armstrong, British Columbia. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie Brice of Kelowna, and his children: Ronald (Debbie Crawford) of Regina, SK; Gayle (Dwayne Henry) of Kelowna, BC; and Ross (Lorna Shull) of Leduc, AB. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Krista, Shawn, Jason, Vanessa, Andrew, and Aaron, as well as eight great-grandchildren: Kyle, Alexus, Coen, Rhea, Drake, Raydin, Hunter, and Taylor. Jack’s sister, Joy Bird, and niece, Kathy (Paul) Murray of Armstrong, BC, as well as the Brice family from Saskatchewan, including Billy, Gina, Frances, and numerous other cousins, also survive him.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held later this summer at the family homestead in Saskatchewan. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Kelowna Interior Health and the exceptional staff at Mountain View Care Home in Kelowna for their incredible support, which allowed Jack and Marjorie to spend their final days together.
In memory of Jack, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of British Columbia.
