Brenda was born November 6, 1949 to Clinton and Doreen Welch in Hartney, MB. Her siblings were Heather (Ron) Foote and Brent Welch. Brenda attended grade school in Roland, MB and then moved to Winnipeg, MB where she studied to become a Registered Nurse.
Brenda then moved to Alberta and had three boys, Lance, Grant and Shane, with then husband, Bill LaPierre. In 1986, Brenda and the boys moved back to Manitoba to be near family, and the boys all grew up near Boissevain. Brenda then worked in Brandon and also attended ACC for two years to get her degree as an accountant. After the boys all moved on after high school, Brenda moved to Winnipeg for a time to continue nursing, and then following retirement she settled in Birtle, MB. Here she became a frequent visitor at the local library, reading hundreds of books every year. She also joined the local quilting group, which she adored and gained so many worthwhile friendships. She was always crafting something, baking, canning, working on a jigsaw puzzle, or reading a book with her favourite country music playing in the background.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents and both of her siblings. She is survived, and will always be lovingly remembered, by her three sons Lance (Cassie), Grant (Cora) and Shane (Deneen), as well as her grandchildren, Zane, Mallory, Brendan, Julia, Chevy, Jordan and Abbi-Gayle LaPierre. Also, her niece and nephew, Rhonda and Chris Foote.
A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, in memory of Brenda.
