Obituary For Beverly (Bev) Wanda Lizotte
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Beverly (Bev) Lizotte. After a lengthy illness Bev passed peacefully with family at her side at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.
Bev was born April 15th, 1954, to Charlie and Liza Lizotte in Fort Vermillion Alberta. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Peace River then in 1961 the remaining family moved to Dawson Creek BC after the passing of her father.
Bev attended school in Dawson Creek. In her teens years one of Bev’s many accomplishments was she competed and gained the title of “Nawican Indian Princess”, she represented her sponsors proudly. It was also at this time she began her singing career with the family band “The Native Sons”, singing was one of Bev’s greatest passions.
After a few years on the road travelling Bev was ready to settle down and this was about the time she met her life partner Rod. In 1973 they were gifted with their daughter Carmen. Over the years Bev and Rod moved between Terrace and Taylor. During the time they lived in Taylor they extended their family and welcomed Bev’s niece Eileen and nephew Brian (Manny) into their family. Later years while living in Terrace they welcomed their first grandchild another little girl, Amanda.
In 2000 the family moved to the acreage in smith AB where they currently reside. Bev enjoyed her home on the acreage, they were always welcoming visitors from near and far. Bev also enjoyed her jaunts into Grande Prairie for her favorite past time, a game of BINGO. Bev made friends wherever she went, and this included many bingo friends.
Bev’s biggest win was when her GREAT Granddaughter Olivia came into the world in 2018. She was incredibly happy to have another little one around to love.
Family was always Bev’s greatest focus and pride. Bev loved music and her singing talent was passed down to her future generations. Her beautiful voice and the song “Snowbird” resonate in the minds of many and her signature song “It wasn’t God who made Honky Tonk Angels” will live in our hearts forever.
Bev will be forever remembered by her spouse Rod O’Neil, her daughter Carmen Hall (Terry Hall), her granddaughter Amanda O’Neil (Travis Haynes), her great granddaughter Olivia York, as well as her sisters Brenda and Charlene Lizotte.
She was pre-deceased by her father Charlie Lizotte, her mother Elizabeth (Lisa) Lizotte (nee Testawich), her sisters Jeanette (Jenny), Eileen, Eleanor and Cheryl, her brothers Billy, Norman, Roger, Crow and Lynn.
