MONCUR, Bernice Elizabeth, 93, of Tavistock, passed away peacefully with family by her side at PeopleCare Tavistock on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
She was born at Manheim on October 25, 1929, a daughter of the late Edon S. and Maryetta (Rudy) Bechtel.
She was an avid swimmer, having competed in a triathlon in her 70’s and was an accomplished quilter.
Bernice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Bruce McKay; six granddaughters, Kayla Shantz (Jason), Julie Neumeister (Dan), Lisa Mealand (Zachary), Michelle McKay-Herlick (Daryl), Rebecca McBride (Michael), Courtney McKay (Keenan Gould); thirteen great grandchildren, Alexis, Zoey, Jorja Shantz; Carson and Rylee Neumeister; Bo, Jolene, Jed and “unborn” Herlick; Rory, Fionn, Declan, Brackley-Ann McBride; John Gould; her sister, Florence Moncur (Don deceased).
She was predeceased by brothers, Elmer, Clayton and Willard; sisters, Mabel, Vera, Verna and Beatrice.
Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock St. N, Tavistock on Thursday, May 25,2023 from 1-2:30pm. where a private service will be held at 3:00pm. The Rev. Mary Boland will officiate. Interment in McTavish Cemetery.
