It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Bernell Joseph “Gubby”
Richard, age 85, of Amherst. Gubby passed
away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the Cumberland Regional Health
Care Centre.
Born in River Hebert, he was a son of
the late Orel and Rose Richard.
Bernell enjoyed the outdoors, hunting,
fishing, and spending time at the camp. A veteran, he was a
member of the River Hebert Royal Canadian Legion. He liked
to play Cribbage. For many years, he enjoyed winters in Florida with
his wife.
Bernell will be dearly missed by his
wife Sheila of Amherst; son Bernell (Mary May), Cheticamp, NS; step
children Brian (Terri) Ripley, Amherst; Howard (Sandra) Ripley,
Amherst; Susan (Serge) Ripley Girard, Deep River, ON; Glendon (Debbie)
Ripley, Fenwick; grandson Brandon; seven step grandchildren; three
step great grandchildren; sister Deloris MacNeil, Lr. Sackville, NS;
as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife
Anne O’Brien; two brothers Ronald “Bud” and David; sister
Melissa Wolfe.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777).
Following Bernell’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will
be no services at this time.
Donations in memory of Bernell may be
made to the Kidney Foundation, or a charity of your
choice.
