Obituary
Bernadette M. VanBuskirk, 77 of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, February 10, 2023. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Agnes (Murray) Murphy.
Bernadette was a long-time member of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, was an avid walker and loved sitting in the sun and socializing with family and friends at the trailer in Sandy Beach.
Bernadette will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 55 years, Gary VanBuskirk of Moncton; her son, Todd (Joanne) of Conception Bay South, NFLD; cherished grandchildren, Molly and William VanBuskirk; sisters, Maureen Murphy (Bill) of Moncton and Anne Caddell of Saint John; brothers, Danny Murphy (Claudette), John Murphy (Rose) and Kevin Murphy; sisters in law, Theresa, Sherill, Claire and Nancy; uncle, Jeff Porter; close and dear friend, Cathy “Dedee” Hopper; several extended family members. In addition to her parents, Bernadette was predeceased by her daughter, Krista Joy Porter (Feb.4, 2016); brothers, Raymond, Hubert, Neil, Greg (Laura), Pat and David; sister, Joan; sister-in-law, Sandy; brother-in-law, Jim Caddell.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Service to Celebrate Bernadette’s Life will be held from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:00 am with Rev. Charlie Broderick presiding. Reception will follow the service. Interment to be held in Fair Haven Cemetery.
