Memorial Donation
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mom, Barbara A. McDonald (nee Lane), at Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, July 27, 2023, aged 74 years, surrounded by her three adoring children.
Predeceased by her husband, Raymond, parents, Mark & Louise Lane (nee Butler), parents-in-law, William & Ulton McDonald (nee Flynn), brothers-in-law, Michael, Bill, Pat, Gordon & Ed, sisters-in-law, Peg & Mary Agatha, foster brother, Mason, and best friends, George & Laveta Mugford.
Leaving to mourn with treasured memories, her children, Mark (Kim), Randy (Juanisa) & Raylene (Chris), grandchildren, Evan (Brianna), Justin & Lindsay, brothers, Barry (Deanne) & Rick (Tara), sisters, Daphne (Lorne) & Debbie (Eric), brothers-in-law, Vincent, Kevin (Lorraine), sisters-in-law Marion (Wilf), Helen & Peggy-Ann &Laura, foster sisters, Sharon (Mike) & Margie (Alf) and fur baby, Molly, also a large number of other relatives and friends.
Mom was an amazing mother to her own children and she truly loved working with other children as well. She started teaching school at the young age of 16 in Bonavista. She stopped teaching to raise her family, but she continued to touch the lives of numerous families when she opened her home and her heart to foster kids who needed a loving, caring mom and a safe home. She continued to work with youth in the judicial system and always did her best to steer them in the right direction. Many of her kids stayed in touch with her over years, and all of them are better for having known and been loved by her.
The family would like to say thank you to mom’s homecare workers, Trish & Eileen, and the staff at Carbonear General Hospital for their care and compassion while caring for mom and to mom’s foster daughter, Lori Ann, and her husband, Rick, for travelling from Ontario to spend time with mom during her final days. She loved visiting with you both.
Resting at Broughton’s Funeral Home, Brigus.
