Barbara Ann Johnston (Whitehead)
December 17, 1942 – February 17, 2023
Barbara (Barb) Johnston, 80, of Tillsonburg passed away February 17, 2023 with her family by her side.
Barb will be deeply missed by her loving husband and best friend Gary Johnston. She was the best Mom ever to her children Holly Johnston (Dave) and Mike Johnston (Pam). She was the loving Grandma of Nile, Maggie, Gabe and Chloe, and step Grandma to Alex and Ethan. She will be truly missed by many extended family and friends.
Barb was born in Toronto, Ontario to Gordon and Jessie Whitehead (Ivings). At an early age her family moved outside of Embro, Ontario in the small community of Golspie. After her Dad’s untimely passing the family moved to Woodstock, Ontario. Barb’s love of helping people led her to a career in nursing. She graduated from South Waterloo Memorial Hospital in Cambridge as a Registered Nurse in 1964. It was at that time that she met the love of her life, Gary Johnston, they were married in 1966 in Guelph, Ontario. In 1976, they moved to Tillsonburg, Ontario where Barb continued her nursing career, raised a family and made some really great friendships.
Barb enjoyed camping, gardening, the outdoors, reading a good book and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her get-togethers with her nursing friends. She loved to tell stories about her childhood and all of her camping adventures. Barb was a kind and caring person, always thinking of others before herself.
Donations in Barb’s honour can be made to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
