Arthur Odilon Boudreau, September 26, 1935 – January 17, 2023
It is with sad hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Arthur Odilon Boudreau, age 87, at his home in Arichat. Born in Gros Nez, Nova Scotia, the youngest son of the late Willard and Maire Jeanne (nee Landry) Boudreau, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Arthur was predeceased by brothers, Patrick (Theresa), D’Entremont (Mary Ann), Anselm, Lawrence, and sisters Idella (Ned) Duyon, Estelle (Lawrence) Boudreau, Eleanor (Lenus) Briand, and Lillian (George) Romard. And numerous nieces and nephews. Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jessica (nee Hannigan), sons David (Melody), Timberlea, James (Nicole) Lennox Passage, daughters Kathleen (Jerry) Marchand, Louisdale, and Arlene (Richard) Boudreau, Arichat. Arthur was the proud grandfather/Pepe to Shayne (Aurora) Marchand, St. Peter’s, Jillian Marchand, Arichat, Justin Schwalen (Shantell Kay-Williams) Spryfield, and great-grandson, Zennon. Arthur loved to sail, and his early years had him sailing north of the Arctic Circle to Sable Island and the Great Lakes, before coming back to Nova Scotia to be closer to his young family. He worked mostly in the fishing industry before retiring from Richmond Fisheries in 1990. Arthur spent his retirement enjoying time on his converted fishing boat, Denice 2, fishing on the Bay of Rocks, gardening, woodworking, building model ships, and undertaking many other special projects, once his grandchildren came along. Together, with his family and Jess by his side, he fulfilled a project that was once a dream, building a cabin on Barachois Pond. A family retreat, he admired with pride. Arthur was a jack-of-all-trades and his attention to detail was evident in everything he turned his hand to. He was also a great cook, and his spaghetti was a family favorite. The family would like to thank the VON Home Support workers, Continuing Care nurses, Drs Laurie and Scott MacNeil, first responders, paramedics, and RCMP. Cremation has taken place. As per Arthur’s request, there will be no funeral service. Visitation will be held at CH Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 1:30 – 5:00 pm. Private internment with immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Hearts of Isle Madame Disability Society.
