Obituary For Arnold Wayne Hujdic
May 6, 1954 – May 15, 2023
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and friend, Arnold Wayne Hujdic. He departed this world on May 15, 2023, at the age of 69, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. While Arnie did not believe in God, his life was a testament to the values of love, hard work, and the pursuit of knowledge.
Born on May 6, 1954, Arnie embraced life with determination and resilience. In March of 1975, he met the love of his life, Wendy, and their love story quickly blossomed. They embarked on a journey of companionship and devotion, exchanging vows and marrying in April of the same year. Their steadfast commitment endured for 48 remarkable years, a testament to their unwavering bond.
Throughout his life, Arnie demonstrated an incredible work ethic. From a young age, he found his place in the oilpatch, working on drilling and service rigs. In 1990, he took a leap of faith and established his own venture, Arnie’s Vacuum Truck Service. The purchase of his first truck, Maxine, marked the beginning of a successful business endeavor. Four years later, he expanded his fleet with the addition of Maxwell. Together with his son Clint, Arnie spent countless years toiling tirelessly, while his wife, Wendy, efficiently managed the office and paperwork.
While work held great importance to him, Arnie also cherished his leisure time. He possessed an insatiable appetite for knowledge and would read anything he could get his hands on, with a particular fondness for the works of Louis L’Amour. Riding his Harley brought him immense joy, and he often sought solace in his workshop, tinkering with projects and engaging in lively conversations with his friends.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Wendy, who stood by his side throughout their journey. He will forever be remembered by his devoted son Ron (Kim), his son Clint, his daughter Stacey (Kobi), and his cherished granddaughter, Maddi. Arnie is also survived by his brother Henry, his granddoggies, Peanut, Lexi, and Emma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. However, he is predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Gertrude, his sister Mary, his brother Bob, daughter Kimberly Dawn.
In his final moments, Arnie found solace at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, where he peacefully passed away with his daughter Stacey by his side. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Katie and Dr. Herman at the Mackenzie Place kidney department, as well as the compassionate staff at the Beaverlodge Hospital, where he was always welcomed as a part of their family.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no funeral, memorial service, or interment of remains. Instead, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Arnie’s memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, a cause that held significant importance to him.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Arnie will remember him as a kind, generous soul with an infectious sense of humor. He had a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter into the lives of those around him. Arnie leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories, and his absence will be felt deeply by all whose lives he touched. Arnie’s legacy of love, hard work, and laughter will continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, let us celebrate his life and the profound impact he made on all of us. May he rest in eternal peace.
