ARMAND GEORGE STROPPA
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Armand on July 3, 2023.
Left to cherish Armand’s memory are his loving wife Dorothy of 62 years, daughter Colleen, granddaughters Samantha (Matthew) and Gina, and great grandsons Aiden, William and George, siblings Sylvia, Jane, Susan (Randy), Gloria (Danny), Virginia (Rex), Roger (Silvia), Gina (Glenn), sisters in law Terry, Lena, brother-in-law Arthur (Wendy), numerous nieces and nephews, and his large extended family on the Bay.
Armand has been reunited with his parents Giuliano and Giacinta, son Brian, brothers Frank and Daniel, sister June and his favourite Aunt Julia.
Armand was born in Winnipeg on April 23, 1936. Armand could have been a movie star with his good looks, often compared to Sal Mineo, and being mistaken for Victor Mature. Armand was well known as a handyman that loved to fix things, and that served him well in his work in construction and trucking. Armand retired from Paul’s Hauling when he was 64, but continued trucking for friends that needed drivers well into his 70’s,
Many were scared by his gruff exterior, only to find out that underneath it was a devoted husband, father, proud grandfather, even prouder great grandfather, loving and stern older brother and good friend to many. He will be remembered for his sense of humour and teasing, and his chuckle that would get everyone laughing.
A big thanks to cousins Juliette and Merle for all your help at the hospital.
Special thanks to Samantha who stayed by her Gigi’s side day and night.
Thank you to the everyone at the Grace Hospital that cared for Armand.
As per Armand’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. In Armand’s memory, enjoy a visit or phone call with friends and family, as these were the things that he cherished the most.
Armand, you ran a good race, we just didn’t want to see you cross the finish line so soon. We hope you’re enjoying a long story made short with Jimmy.
