Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 with loved ones by her side, Anne Marie Squires of Marystown, at the age of 74 years.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband, Gerry Squires of 27 years; son, Maurice Jr (Brudder) Drake (Rosalind) of Marystown; daughters, Lillian Drake (Edward Foote) of Burin, Anne Marie Heudes (Gildas) of Miquelon, Kayla Squires (Justin Oliver) of Portugal Cove; 10 grandchildren, Dillon, Brandon, Tyson, Aaron, Karyn, Elliot, Santana, Sheranda, Samantha and Verno Jr., 13 great grandchildren, Sylvia, Hannah, Ariana, Gerard Jr., Taylor, Austin, Ethan, Emily, Autumn, Xavier, Ella, Nicholas, and Aiden; brothers and sisters, Thomas & Margaret Edwards of Fortune, Gerard & Mona Edwards of Deer Lake, Peter Edwards of Marystown, Glenn & Stella Edwards of Fortune, Effie & Kenneth Walsh of Marystown, and Lucinda Edwards of St. John’s; special friends, Mary Brake and Diane Hillier; homecare workers, Alicia Easton and Tammy Beck; plus a large circle of family and friends.
Anne Marie was predeceased by her parents, George & Sylvia Edwards; mother-in-law, Sabina Squires; daughter, Sylvia Whittle; granddaughter, Dayniche Heudes; great grandson Baby James; brothers, George Edwards and Brendan Edwards.
The Squires Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Home – Marystown on Thursday, June 8th, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Friday, June 9th, 2023 from 10:00am – 12:00pm, 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church – Marystown on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 at 10:30 am.
Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery – Marystown.
In Anne Marie’s memory donations may be made to Squires & Drake families, or flowers gratefully accepted.
“Anne Marie was a very special lady to many people. She was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Anne Marie was my mother-in-law and we had an amazing bond. The past week as I watched her slowly slip away, I had lots of time to think of our good times and I got the chance to tell her exactly what she meant to me and how she accepted me as one of her own daughters. I have no regrets and I’m so glad I got to share a lot of years with you. You were an angel on earth, and I’m sure you’re an angel in heaven. I’d move mountains for you if I could have taken away your suffering this past week. You’re resting comfortable now Mudder. It was never good-bye, it’s just see you later and hope someday we will meet again at God’s peaceful garden.”
