Obituary For Anne Florence Cluett
The family of Anne “Annie” Florence Cluett are saddened to announce that she passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, while in Hospice Care in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 87 years.
Anne was born April 21, 1936, and was the third oldest daughter of Marcus and Minnie Hiscock of Winterton, NL.
Left to mourn her passing are her children: Tony (Christine), Bob, and Donna; her five grandchildren: Jason (Pam), Tracy, Jennifer, Julia (Jon), and Ty (Megan); her great-grandchildren who will certainly miss their Nanny: William, Victoria, Katherine, and Haisley.
Anne was pre-deceased by her son Jerry, husband Herman, son-in-law Loderick, brother Peter, sisters Myrtle and Joan, brothers-in-law Warwick, Willis, Mac, Chesley, and Bert.
Anne adored her family and was very close to her siblings and in-laws. Sister Liz and brothers Mark (Pats), Ralph (Ethel), and Gary (Mary Blanch) will remember their sister/sister-in-law with fondness. Anne remained close to Herman’s family upon his passing in 2010. She leaves behind sisters-in-law Almeda and Bella, and brothers-in-law Wilf (Yvonne), Horatio (Theresa), and Arthur (Ruth), as well as her late mother-in-law and father-in-law George and Florence Cluett who always held a special place in Anne’s heart.
Anne leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families. She was affectionately referred to as “Aunt Glitter”. Anne’s nephew and his family even named their dog “Annie” and she was very proud of this sweet gesture. Annie, the canine’s, photo was proudly on display in Anne’s living room.
Anne was an active member of the Salvation Army Church in Grande Prairie, and she thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Seniors Homes and bringing joy to all the residents, especially during the Christmas season.
For the last five years, Anne had been a resident of Wild Rose Manor. She loved living there and met many new friends. It was always easy for Anne to make friends and she always had time for a visit and a cup of tea. She entertained the residents of Wild Rose Manor by always dressing up in costumes for special occasions like she did for her grandchildren when they were little. We could always count on “Nan” to be dressed up as the Easter Bunny each Easter morning.
Anne had many close friends whom we truly appreciate for the love and support they provided to Anne over the years. There are too many people to list, but you know who you are. Life was certainly not easy for Anne and Herman when they suddenly lost their son Jerry in 2001. Anne’s friends were her pillar of support, especially when she was left to grieve the passing of her husband in 2010. We cannot thank you enough!
We are relieved Anne is no longer suffering, and is finally reunited with Herman and Jerry, and all her other family members and friends who have gone before her. It has been a very rough road for our family since 2001, but we will cherish all the memories, especially those that we made together as a family during our time in Tumbler Ridge, BC.
We would like to extend a sincere Thank you to ALL the staff at the Grande Prairie Hospital that cared for Anne during her 4 month stay. Anne was transferred to Hospice on August 25, 2023. She was very comfortable and happy to be in her new environment, and we are eternally grateful for the loving care that she was provided. It takes a very special person to take on this role and we appreciate everything the Hospice Staff did for Anne and continue to do for other patients.
Thank you to all the people who visited Anne while she was in the hospital and in Hospice. She/we could certainly feel the love from each one of you. Special thanks to Nola for visiting Anne on several occasions and helping her with energy healing. Special appreciation also goes to Captain Peter Kim and all of Anne’s fellow church members and the Hospice Chaplain who sang and prayed with Anne. You always brightened her day.
A Graveside burial will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave and 112th St.). All of Anne’s friends are welcome to join the family. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave.)
A livestream of the service will be available prior to service on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.
In lieu of flowers, Anne’s wishes were for donations to be made to the Salvation Army Church (9525 83 Ave. Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 6V1, salvationarmygp.ca), or to your local Animal Shelter. Anne was an avid animal lover and would be appreciative of any help that could be given to animals in need.
