Obituary
Anna Maria Josephine de Boer (nee van Best)
December 17, 1926 – July 23, 2023
Anna passed away with her family by her side at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre at the age of 96.
She was predeceased by her husband Theodorus (Ted) of 62 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Theo (Tina), Adrian (Maureen), William (Valerie) and Johanna (Blaise), plus numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is also mourned by a brother and 3 sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews in The Netherlands.
Born in The Netherlands, Anna and her husband came to Canada in 1959 with 4 children in tow. The first few years were difficult. Together they built a beautiful life in Selkirk. After Dad’s retirement they moved to the Fred Douglas Place in Winnipeg where she lived until returning to Selkirk in 2020 to be closer to her family.
Being avid dancers Mom and Dad spent many winters in Texas square dancing and traveled around the world attending many of the square dance conventions.
We would like to thank the Home Care staff for their wonderful care during her stay at the Cambridge House and the amazing nursing staff of the Selkirk Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion during her last few days.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a come and go celebration will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Christ Church, 227 McLean Ave. Selkirk, MB.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
