Anetha Larraine Wellman was born on November 16, 1947 in Claresholm, AB. Anetha passed away March 22, 2023 peacefully in Edmonton after her brief but courageous fight with Cancer at the age of 75.
Anetha met the love of her life Barry Sawchuk after they fought over a bowl of popcorn at a friends party. The two were Married on June 5 1981, and welcomed their daughter Alexandra (Ali) a few years later. With only having one child Anetha was over the moon when her daughter met her now Husband Alexander (Alex) Passey. She always said she now had the Son she never knew she needed.
Anetha was a voracious reader, history buff and a lover of Hawaii and Hawaiian Culture. She had a passion for gardening , sewing, animals and traveling with her family. Anetha was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. Anetha was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She was a source of inspiration to us all and will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Anetha is predeceased by her Mother Eileen Wellman, Aunt Virginia Smedstad (John), Cousin Norm Smedstad and her two fur babies Kelly And Bell.
Anetha is survived by her Husband of almost 43 years Barry, her daughter Ali, “SON” in-law Alex, Cousin Al Smedstad and fur baby Abby. She also leaves behind many friends and family, her grand-puppies and grand-horse.
As per Anetha’s request, no funeral service will be held
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to either the Pilgrims Hospice or Diabetes Canada.
