Amy Marian Bessey
1934-2023
The passing of Amy Marian (Bradford) Bessey, wife of the late
Ronald E. Bessey, occurred at the Briarlea, Moncton, NB on May 24,
2023. Born in Kingsey, Quebec on August 24, 1934, she was a
daughter of the late Clifford and Marian Bradford. Amy was deeply
loved and respected by all her family, friends, and acquaintances.
She was a devoted wife, mother, accountant, and volunteer.
In 2014 she was named as the Citizen of the Year for the Town of St.
George, and Volunteer of the Year for the Bay of Fundy Zone.
She had a deep passion for solving jigsaw puzzles, and was known as
the “Puzzle Lady of the Briarlea”. Amy is survived
by one daughter: Linda Thurston (Bill) of St. George, NB; by four
sons: Peter (Mary Jane) of Greenfield, NS, Brian (Brenda) of
Riverview, NB, Ronald (Leona) of Plascassier, France and David
(Angela) of Canton, MI; ; 13 grandchildren: Amy, Brett, Christopher,
Alexander, Meredith, Cameron, Graeme, Simon, Nicolas, Jasmine,
Francesca, Isaac and Dean; 2 great-grandchildren: Marissa and Olivia;
and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents
and devoted husband (Ronald), Amy was predeceased by one brother (Eric
Bradford) and one sister (Hazel Elliot). Amy’s
family express their sincere thanks to all of the staff of the
Briarlea for the wonderful care provided to Amy over the past 5
years.
Arrangements are in the care of the
St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George
NB. In keeping with Amy’s wishes, there will be no
visitation. A memorial service will be held from the St. George
Presbyterian Kirk, 180 Brunswick St, St. George, NB, on Friday, June
16, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Rev. John Martin officiating. This will be
followed by interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery and a reception
at the Hall of the St. George Presbyterian Church. In Amy’s
memory, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of
Canada, New Brunswick Division, would be appreciated by the
family.
