KOSTYK, Amby – With heavy hearts and a short fight with cancer Amby passed on April 12th, 2023. Any room Amby entered was profoundly changed. A great force of nature has been quelled, but will never be forgotten.
He leaves behind his wife Arlene of 52 years. His children Shawn (Jana), Shelley (Gord), and eight grandchildren; Mackenzie, Grace, Brayden, Hunter, Devon, Dustin, Cameron and Amanda. We all came together and gave Amby the care he needed in his last month of life.
Amby worked at Avondale Food Stores Ltd. for 45 years and was proud to do so. From manager to supervisor to lead merchandizer for all the stores. He travelled to the 100 stores and as he did he loved to sing as he worked. He truly was a perfectionist and when he finished his realign, the store was perfectly aligned to his satisfaction.
His passion was watching sports. He rarely missed a hockey or football game that his grandsons played. And you knew he was present as he was always cheering them on from the stands. You may have even heard him yell “Ump” at a hockey game or two!
His other passions were golf and landscaping. If there was a golf game booked he would be there. Unless of course it was a perfect day to do his grass and trimming.
He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He was very dedicated husband, son, father and grandfather. We love you and will miss you… until we meet again.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 13th, 2023 at The Croatian National Home, 6 Broadway, Welland starting at 2:3O pm and the remembrance will begin at 4 pm. Online condolences available at www.cudneyfuneralhome.com.
