It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daysi Cortez on Wednesday, July 19 2023, at the CHUS Hotel Dieu Palliative Care Unit in Sherbrooke, Quebec after a long battle with cancer.
Daysi’s greatest joy was the family she leaves behind: Her husband of 36 years, Ruben Oswaldo Sr, her children Tannia (Marcus), Ruben Jr., Kattia (Steve), Joshua, as well as her grandson, Kalum. Daysi also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their most humble gratitude to the dedicated team at the Hotel Dieu Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and devotion.
Daysi will be fondly remembered for her humble and kind demeanor. She devoted most of her life helping and caring for others as a nurse. Those who knew Daysi knew of her passion for her culture and family, and the beautiful smile that would appear when she encountered someone that spoke Spanish, or when her grandson Kalum snuggled up to her.

The family will be holding a celebration of her life at the Sherbrooke Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunday September 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. 908 Boulevard De Portland, Sherbrooke, Quebec J1H 1H4
