Althea Leonora Alexander
1932-2023
Althea was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago to her mother Mildred Maud Alexander and father Patrick John Solomon.
She started her teaching career after leaving high school. After being selected to attend Teachers’ Training College, she applied her skills in two countries as teacher, mentor, counsellor, mother and protector.
Upon completing 47 years of being a dedicated teacher she retired in September 1997. She then concentrated on spiritual, social and cultural activities in various organizations such as DKG Quebec, Black Theatre Workshop and Quebec Provincial Association of Retired School Educators (QPARSE). In light of her service and dedication to her many causes, she generously donated her time, resources and energy with the same enthusiasm as she did throughout her teaching career.
She left behind her very loving and caring husband, Clare Caesar; Melva Alexander, sister-in-law; Godson Caesar, brother-in-law; Sharon Caesar, step daughter and her family; Brian Alexander, nephew; Candice Alexander, niece; cousins and other extended family.
Her family wishes to thank her caregivers, especially the Lachine General Hospital medical and support staff.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Actuel Funeral Home, (opposite to the Verdun Metro Station).
The viewing will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Followed by the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be sent to the Lachine Hospital Foundation.
