Alphonsus “Phonse”‘s Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Alphonsus George announce his passing on Friday, May 26th,2023 at his family residence in Pasadena at the age of 72 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Sylvia (nee Barry), children; Derek (Erica) George of Pasadena, NL, Amy George of Edmonton, AB and grandchildren; Ethan & Maya George. Mother Marie George. His siblings; Milton George of Ontario, Irene (William) Best of Pasadena, Lana (Ernie) Drover of Pasadena and Jackie (Neil) Almond of Pasadena. Brothers-in-law; Bruce Barry of Yukon, Greg (Kim) Barry of St. Lawrence, Donald Barry of St. George’s and William (Karen) Barry of Stephenville Crossing. Special friends; Dominic Brennan, Kenney Ryan, Billy Ryan and Ben. Also leaving to mourn are many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Alphonsus was predeceased by his father William George, parents-in-law Carl and Hilda Barry and brother-in-law George Boyden.
“Phonse” as he was known by most, loved cars especially his own. He spent countless hours washing it to a perfect shine, driving around town with the windows rolled down and his music playing and spending time in his garage. He also loved his Tim Horton’s coffee and any type of chocolate bar. Phonse was a man who would always lend a helping hand. He had the brightest smile and the most heartfelt laugh. He was a kind and gentle man who always had time for his family and friends. He worked his adult life in the construction industry.
Visitation will take place at The Holy Rosary Parish in Pasadena on Friday, June 2nd,2023 from the hours of 7-9 pm., also where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd,2023 at 10:30 am with Father Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the family plot.
