With heavy hearts, the family of Alice Fidelak announce her passing on January 23, 2023 at the Southeast Integrated LTC Centre in Moosomin, at the age of 91.
Alice was born in Wadena, Sk. on December 30, 1931 to her parents, Jim and Edith Messenger. She was the fourth of five daughters.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter Fidelak, her parents Jim and Edith Messenger, sisters and brothers-in-law May (Seymour) Leitch, Ethel (Paul) Schultz, Doris (Robert) Bridal and Ida (Walter) Chuback as well as Walter’s brother and sisters and their spouses Paul (Marie) Fidelak, Vonda (Frank) Linds and Martha (Alex) Ziola and several nephews and nieces.
She will be forever loved and missed by her children John (Lorraine) Fidelak, Brian (Eddy) Fidelak, Betty (Frank) Gregory and Virginia (Murray) Young, her grandchildren, Brad (Heather) Fidelak, Terry Fidelak (Jay), Gregory (Yvonne) Fidelak and Angela Fidelak (Frans), Nikki Fidelak, Meagan Young and Katie (Ian) Wright, and her great-grandchildren Brodi and Mya Fidelak, Blythe Kimball, Madilyn and Emily Fidelak as well as step-great-grandchildren Sophie and Reuben Kimball, Nikki’s foster children Paisley, Tyra, Lily and Mylah, several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Alice was raised on the family farm south of Kelvington until the passing of her mother in 1948, when the family moved to Wadena. Alice met Walter in 1952 and exactly two years to the day they met, they were married on June 23, 1954 in Wadena.
On August 30, 1962 Walter, Alice and family moved to the farm north-west of Fairlight. Family was extremely precious to Alice and she enjoyed caring for her family, gardening, cooking, baking and canning her garden produce. She also took pride in the yearly raising of baby chicks, turkeys, ducks and geese. She sold chickens and eggs and also shipped the cream from the cows she milked. Alice worked the farm alongside Walter and when he worked away, she and the kids did it all.
Alice’s faith and activity as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses was also very important to her. Alice was an amazing and wonderful woman, mother, gram and great-gram. She will be held in our loving memory until we meet again.
A memorial for Alice will be held at a later date. Those wishing to pay tribute to Alice via donation, in her memory may do so directly to the Fairlight Cemetery Club, Box 51, Fairlight, Sk., S0G 1M0.
