Dickie, Alden Eugene – Age 83 of Meaghers Grant, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
Born in Meaghers Grant, he was a son of the late Frank and Rachel (Dillman) Dickie.
Alden enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family and going out for a good meal with family and friends. He had a 40 year career driving trucks for Dartmouth Ready Mix and Casey Concrete, retiring in 2003.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine (Neves); children, Cheryl Dillman; Ellen (Michael) Ruggles; Kevin (Katherine Sharples); grandchildren, Matthew, Shauna, Rayann, Ryan, Jarrett, Amber, Leanne, Hailey; great-grandchildren, Viktoria, Raychel, Bo and Bennett; sisters, Laverne (Blair) Warner, Edith (Morley) Dillman.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Adam.
Cremation has taken place.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Meaghers Grant Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Meaghers Grant Cemetery or Canadian Cancer Society.
Many thanks to the staff of Medical Day and Oncology Departments of Colchester East Hants Health Centre; Hematology Department, QEII VG Site; the nurses of in-home blood collection; all of whom made Alden’s sickness easier. Special thanks to the staff of Twin Oaks for their kindness and compassion shown to Alden and his family.
