Obituary
Alan passed away peacefully on August 23, 2023 at The Moncton Hospital while being comforted by his wife, Shirley Powell; and son, Justin Powell.
His battle with serious medical issues in recent years, showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile, despite the pain. Alan stayed strong until the end.
He had a great love for music of all kinds and could be found blasting music while tinkering on his 3 classic muscle cars, Shirley’s cars, while driving and even while in hospital. He had even made sure Justin hooked him up on ITunes.
Alan was a Mopar Man, his passion was driving his 3 Dodge Muscle Cars, attending many car shows as possible with his car enthusiast friends and son; he loved to display his cars, and had won many 1st place category awards through the years.
He enjoyed boating throughout his life, and early on enjoyed water skiing, cottage life, and had a great love for computers and was many folks “go to guy”. He always knew how to fix it!
He was a great father and husband (even during separation), brother in law, uncle and friend.
Alan and Shirley stayed very connected, honest and showed their love and support to each other by acts of kindness to one another, and always having family special gatherings times and outings with their pride and joy, son, Justin.
He always spoke with wisdom, from heart to heart with a smile in a soft gentle voice, he had a great sense of humour and a contagious laughter. He was generous and giving with his time to his family, friends and coworkers.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Alan, as long as he was with friends and family.
Alan was always happy when he could make others happy.
He had been employed by Lounsbury Truck Center for more than 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Powell; son, Justin Powell; two sisters, Louise Hughes (Frank) and Eileen Cedroff (John); sister in laws, Wanda Penney (Mel) June Ross and Kim Ross (Doug); nieces and nephews, Amanda Betts, Jason Pen, Amanda Ross, Joe Ross, James Ross, Ray Ross, Frank Hughes Jr., Brenda Stewart, Tara Carleton along with their children.
Alan was preceded by his parents, Charles (1995) and Margaret (2001) Powell; brother, Bruce Powell (1998) and grandparents, Maude (Mackay) Mann and Frank Mann.
