Obituary of Henry Salter
We are sad to announce that Henry Hugh Salter, 75 of Riverton, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 in the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Pleasant Valley, Henry was a son of the late Wilfred and Irene (Skerry) Salter.
Henry was a long haul truck driver until a car accident at the age of 37 left him paralyzed from the waist down. He didn’t let being in a wheel chair slow him down. He was very independent and liked doing things for himself. He enjoyed life and was never one to give up.
Henry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joanie (Chesnutt); son Lloyd, Pleasant Valley; grand daughter Jamie (David), Hopewell and great grand daughter Remi. He is also survived by his sister Violet Hughes (Lloyd), New Glasgow; brothers Garnet ((Bonnie), New Brunswick and Ron (Myrna), Pleasant Valley and brother-in-law John Robinson, Scotsburn.
He was predeceased by sisters Helen Robinson, Phyllis Schinzel, Treva Gordon, Joyce Mann, Hazel Salter, Rose Lenehan, Doris Legge; brothers Charles “Bud”, Vernon and Allison Salter and father and mother-in-law Lloyd and Isabelle Chesnutt.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or gathering. Donations in Henry’s memory may be made to the Hear and Stroke Foundation.
