It is with the heaviest of hearts, Gloria Farren, David Mason and family announce the passing of Derreck Mason that occurred unexpectedly on Tuesday March 28th, 2023 in Simcoe Ontario. Derreck was born on October 27th, 1978.
Derreck was a free spirit who enjoyed sports, especially baseball, golfing, music, carnivals, Toronto Maple Leaf’s Hockey team and his love for Tim’s coffee. Derreck loved his fur babies, Baby Girl and Dolly and were never apart. Derreck was known as Dee Dee in his younger days and Big Red/ Red in his adult life.
Derreck will be deeply missed by his parents, Gloria Farren and Dave Mason, his Son Drake Farren, siblings Michelle Crowe, Christina Mason, Paul Farren, Steven Farren, Andrew Farren, Ethan Adams, grandmother Barbara Brewster, aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, cousins. His second momma Linda Holland and his many friends from baseball and the carnival.
Derreck was predeceased by his daughter Shaylynn Mason Farren, stepfather Douglas Farren, grandfather Alden Brewster, grandparents Ruth and Donald Mason, and his aunt Kelly LeBreton, uncle Terry Mason and Lory Mason.
Gloria and family invite you to a Celebration of life on Friday April 14th, 2023 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe ON (519-426-1314).
There will be a second celebration of life in Derreck’s hometown of Saint John on Wednesday April 19th, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB.
