Obituary For Betty Lorraine Gaudin
January 23, 1933 – December 27, 2022
“When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no tears or gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little – but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love we all shared,
Miss me but let me go…”
Christina Rosetti
Betty Gaudin, long-time resident of Beaverlodge, passed away on December 27, 2022, in the Grande Prairie Hospital at the age of 89.
Betty was born January 23, 1933, in Halcourt to Russell and Agnes Walker. She married the love of her life, Jack Gaudin on June 30, 1953, and settled in Beaverlodge. Betty had a lifelong passion for travel, sports, pioneer history, art, and literature, which she enjoyed with her dear friends and family. Her proud sense of community spirit often found her volunteering her time with many organizations including the Beaverlodge Art and Culture Center, the Euphemia McNaught Society, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, and offering her support with the building of the Town of Beaverlodge Recreational Facility.
She is predeceased by her husband Jack, and her siblings Annie, Irene, Alvin, Lillie, and Mona. She is survived by her sisters: Ruby Mitchell and Shirley and Bill Lamb, her children: Jackie and Mario Morissette, Erin and Ken Martin, Griff and Heather Gaudin, and Lorraine and Bryon Abbott; her grandchildren: Adam Morissette, Connor and Dawn Martin, Mychal Martin and Christian Pfeiffer, Ty Gaudin and Melanie Marcoux, Caitlyn and Jeremy Kral, Meagan and Jeff Sheehan, Zachary Abbott, and Spencer and Casey Abbott; her great-grandchildren: William, Makenna, and Jaydon Martin, and Caleb and Deakon Abbott, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses, and staff at Pearson Place, the Beaverlodge and Grande Prairie hospitals, and Emergency Medical Services.
There will be a celebration of life for Betty in the spring. In lieu of flowers, for friends so wishing, donations can be made to the West County Health Facility Fund to support a new Beaverlodge hospital.
