Obituary of James Edward Askew
McDONALD, John Francis: 57, Dartmouth. It is with great sadness in our hearts we announce the passing of our beloved brother, John McDonald, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary Site, peacefully surrounded by family on March 13, 2023.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Vincent James Moore and Margaret Ann (Pellow) McDonald.
John took pride in his cooking skills. He made sure his niece, Leslie, was well fed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and volunteering within his community and the Kin Club.
Survived by his father, David Wayne McDonald; brothers, Vincent Kevin Moore, James McDonald, and David McDonald; sisters, Mary (Muriel) Redden, and Ann Margaret McDonald-Edward; uncle, Leslie (Jim) Pellow; as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew.
The family would like to thank the Coronary Care Unit at the Halifax Infirmary for the care they provided to John.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be a visitation on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. There will be no funeral. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
