The passing of Margaret “June” Douglass of Nashwaak Bridge, NB, wife of Stuart Charles Douglass, occurred on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton , NB. Born on October 14, 1937 in Nashwaak Bridge , NB , she was the daughter of the late Clair and Irene (Gilmore) Fraser and was loved and protected by 4 brothers and 5 sisters from the time she was just little. She loved to watch her mother sew and over the years learned to make her family’s clothes and sew for others. Many of her daughters and granddaughters wore her work at their proms and weddings. June liked knitting and embroidering, but especially designing and making quilts, completing well in excess of 1000 of them, the last one just 3 months ago. June was an amazing cook, and her baking was in high demand at markets for many years. She loved sports, especially basketball, liked to dance and sing. She loved having children around, babysat for others and thoroughly enjoyed the many hours she devoted to supporting her children and grandchildren’s activities. June took positions of leadership in many church and community groups. She loved camping with her family and travelling far and wide, especially enjoying trips to their cabin on the Taxis River . She was very well loved and respected by the church community. June was a retired LPN and worked at Nashwaak Villa for many years.
In addition to her loving husband of 68 years, June is survived by her children, Penny Joudrey (Randy Hiltz) of Fall River, NS, Kimberley Douglass (Tom Cameron) of Taymouth, NB, Sheldon Douglass (Margie) of Upper Musquodoboit, NS, Trent Douglass (Rose Leger) of Oromocto Lake, NB, and Carolyn Yates (Bob) of Nashwaak Village, NB; grandchildren, Mark (Amber), Andrew (Sandy), Ted, Laura (Jonathan), Matthew, Adam, Sydnie, John (Kallie), Victoria (Jordan), Amber (Scott B), April and Scott; step-grandchildren, Eugene, Matthew, Scott, Cindy, Kevin and Janelle; great-grandchildren, Davison, Lennon and Benson; step-great-grandchildren, Lauren, Tyler, Jace and Dougie; sister, Vivian Roussel of Fredericton, NB; several cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Besides her parents, June was predeceased by her infant son, Brian Keith Douglass; daughter-in-law, Shelley Douglass; sisters, Pearl Armstrong, Jean Spilman, Gertrude Colpitts and Beth Renaldo; brothers, Ted, Fred, Peter and Jack Fraser.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 6 – 8 pm and prior to the Memorial Service in York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 12 – 2 pm with the service starting at 2 pm with Rev. Chris Walker officiating. A reception will take place following the Interment in Nashwaak Bridge Community Cemetery, Nashwaak Bridge, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Hillcrest United Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
